The Senior Experience

Join Master Photographer Mother and Daughter Team Kari J. Stuckey and Karissa Blunck for a day of learning about The Senior Experience from start to finish. The Senior Experience is more than just taking photos. It's about how seniors and their parents feel during their time with you from the session, in person ordering appointment, and after they receive their portraits. Kari will take you through a senior session, showing indoor and outdoor lighting. She’ll also teach you how to pose your subjects so they have a wide variety of looks to choose from. With 30 years senior photography experience, Kari has photographed thousands of high school seniors. In 2002 Kari started creating her outdoor portrait studio to set herself apart from other local photographers, with the idea “build it and they will come”. No matter your budget, you can start building your own outdoor settings, and Kari and Karissa will share lots of tips and tricks so you can get started right away! You’ll take home ideas of how to create your own indoor and outdoor studio that you and your clients will love. Kari’s daughter Karissa has been working for the family business full time since she was a senior 10 years ago. Karissa will take you behind the scenes with post processing and social media. You’ll learn how to have social media content year-round, even in the slow seasons. After the live session, Karissa will edit the photos in lightroom to prepare for an in person sales appointment, which Kari will demonstrate using Pro Select. You will see first-hand how to engage with your clients during sales appointments. Albums are one of Studio K’s top selling products, Kari and Karissa design award winning albums that tell each senior’s story. You will see a variety of samples and how Karissa quickly puts a custom album design together. Bring your senior brochure for help with pricing.

Getting Started with Photographic Restoration

Karissa Blunck BA, M Photog, FP will share how to work with Photoshop to bring damaged photographs back to life so they can be treasured for years to come. She will guide us through the process from finding images, workflow, and beginner techniques. She will also share advanced techniques including hand colorization and adding new backgrounds to give a modern and creative look to vintage photos. Photographic Restoration is an art that requires patience and attention to detail. With lots of practice, restoration will become a process that brings joy to not only you but your family and clients. Bring a physical photo to restore, preferably something damaged. If you don’t have a damaged photo, any older black and white photo will work. This class will have lots of time for hands on practice. You will learn the process of restoration, copy work, and colorization in real time. Also bring your camera and laptop with photoshop and Wacom Tablet if you have one.
