Tonight I came home to a letter on my desk in the studio office. At first I didn't pay much attention to it, but I gave it a second look and noticed that the letter was from Serbin Communications Inc. I immediately knew what was in that envelope: the results of a photography competition that I had entered six photos into in the Fall. I told my mom what was inside and I looked at the envelope in my hands for a few moments. I was nervous to open it, but I knew I had to sooner or later. I finally opened the letter and the bold words jumped out at me: "We are pleased to inform you that your entry is in the finalist selection group... Because you are a finalist, your work will appear in this year's edition." This is the photo that they selected as a finalist and this image will also be sold at the Evergreen Art of Living Auction next month. I'm really hopeful that my photograph will make it through the next round of judging where they choose the top 4 images and the top 100 honorable mentions, but I'm thankful that one of my photographs was picked from over 17,000 images. Looking forward to seeing it in the Best of College Photography 2015 book among the other finalists nonetheless.
